Flappy
Peregrine Falcon
—
This is Flappy. Flappy is one of the last few Cape Verde Peregrine falcons. This is her story.
The Peregrine falcon is one of the most resilient species on the planet. These birds are targeted by waterway pollution. Harmful chemicals seep into their digestive tracts via consumption and these chemicals, specifically DDT, thin the shell of the eggs they birth. DDT has since been banned, and while Peregrine falcons are no longer critically endangered, they represent the thousands of birds poisoned by dirty waterways contaminated by other toxins.
The Peregrine falcon has been listed as endangered twice, on two separate accounts.
Clean water isn’t a luxury, it’s life or death.
